What Each Service Includes (and Why It Costs What It Does)

Normal Service — RM80 to RM100

A normal service is the routine clean: filter rinse, evaporator fin-face wipe, outdoor condenser rinse, drain-outlet clear, and a cooling test. It is the right choice every three months when the unit is cooling well and has no symptoms. It does not open the coil cover or clean the blower wheel, which is why it is the cheapest option.

Chemical Wash — RM130 to RM180 (wall), from RM350 (cassette)

A chemical wash partially dismantles the indoor unit to deep-clean the full coil depth, the blower wheel, and the drainage tray with a coil-safe chemical. It restores cooling and removes the musty smell a normal service cannot reach. Cassette units cost more because the ceiling housing takes longer to open and protect. See chemical wash vs normal servicing for a full comparison, or book a chemical wash directly.

Repair & Troubleshooting — from RM100 per call

Repair pricing starts with a diagnostic call from RM100, which is credited toward the repair if you proceed. The final price depends on the fault: a capacitor or fan-motor swap is at the low end, a PCB or compressor job at the high end. Aircon repair jobs are quoted after diagnosis, never blind.

Gas Top-Up — from RM150 (R32) / RM180 (R410A)

Refrigerant does not get used up. If the gas is low, it has leaked. A proper gas top-up always includes a pressure check and leak test first; refilling without fixing the leak means paying again in weeks. Leak repair is quoted separately, typically RM80 to RM200.

Installation — from RM250 per indoor unit

Installation from RM250 per indoor unit covers bracket mounting, copper piping, drain routing, electrical connection, vacuum and pressure-leak test, and a handover. Longer pipe runs, high-rise access, and multi-split systems raise the price. Pricing is the same whether you bought the unit from a showroom, Shopee, or Lazada.

7 Factors That Change Your Price

How to Sense-Check a Quote

A fair KL/Selangor quote is specific: it states the service type, the per-unit price, the number of units, and whether a chemical wash or gas top-up is included. Be cautious of "monthly service" contracts at RM40–RM60 a visit that only pull the filter and never open the coil — over a year they cost more than a quarterly service plus one annual chemical wash and deliver less. Ask: does this include opening the coil cover and the blower wheel, or just the filter?

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does aircon servicing cost in KL and Selangor?

A normal service runs RM80 to RM100 per wall-mounted unit. A full chemical wash is RM130 to RM180 per wall-mounted unit, or from RM350 for a ceiling cassette unit. A repair or troubleshooting call starts from RM100. A gas top-up is from RM150 for R32 and from RM180 for R410A. New split unit installation starts from RM250 per indoor unit. Cooling tower maintenance is quoted on site.

Why does a chemical wash cost more than a normal service?

A normal service is a surface clean of the filter and coil face and takes 30 to 45 minutes. A chemical wash partially dismantles the indoor unit to deep-clean the full coil depth, the blower wheel, and the drainage tray with a coil-safe chemical, and takes 60 to 90 minutes. The extra labour, equipment, and chemical are why a chemical wash costs more.

Is there a call-out or travel fee for aircon service in KL or Selangor?

Mavis Eco Cool does not charge a travel surcharge for postcodes within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The price quoted on WhatsApp is the price paid. For repair work, the RM100 diagnostic fee is credited toward the cost of the repair if you proceed.

Do you offer a discount for servicing multiple aircon units?

Yes. A per-unit discount applies for jobs of three or more units in a single visit, which covers most homes with several rooms and most offices. The exact per-unit price is confirmed in the WhatsApp quote before booking.

Should I top up the gas or repair the leak first?

Always repair the leak first. Refrigerant does not get used up; if the gas is low, it has escaped through a leak. Topping up without fixing the leak means the gas escapes again within weeks and you pay twice. A pressure check and leak test are done before any gas top-up.
