When you do not need this
We would rather tell you not to book than sell you something that will not fix the problem.
- Cooling has faded gradually over months and the unit is otherwise fine. That is a dirty coil, not a fault. A chemical wash is the right job.
- The unit is dripping water and nothing else is wrong. Usually a blocked drain - see aircond leaking water.
- You only want gas added. We will not add refrigerant without a pressure and leak test. Refrigerant is not consumed in normal use, so if it is low it has leaked. See gas refill and leak diagnosis.
- The repair cost approaches the cost of a new unit. On an old unit needing a compressor, we will say so and quote a replacement instead.
What changes the final quote
The published price covers the standard job. These are the things that move it, and all of them are confirmed with you before any work starts:
- The fault itself. Checking is free and the repair is quoted only after the technician has found the cause, so you are never quoted blind.
- Parts. Brand-specific parts such as PCBs, fan motors and compressors vary widely in price and availability.
- Access. Condensers on ledges, roofs or in tight back lanes take longer and sometimes need extra equipment.
- Whether a wash is needed as well. If the coil is fouled, cleaning it is quoted separately at the published wash price rather than bundled in.
Warranty and its limits
Leak repairs carry a 30-day leak warranty. The warranty covers the work we carried out - it does not cover a new, unrelated fault, damage from power surges or water ingress, or a unit that fails because it is at the end of its service life. Replacement parts and new units are covered by the manufacturer warranty, whose terms vary by brand, model and part. Terms are written on the receipt.

My aircon is not cooling — most likely cause?
Three possibilities: low refrigerant gas (most common — usually a small leak), a dirty coil blocking airflow (chemical wash), or a failing compressor (older units). One service call diagnoses all three.

What is the warranty on a repair?
